I get it now God

I had written the post on Jezebel. I thought that I pushed save and it has disappeared. It’s been a difficult one (I've writen it three times now) because I don’t have anyone to relate it to. Even those who I get irritated by aren’t this evil.

There it was I had gone from Danny Kaye’s blog to the reality of the fact that I hadn’t a single soul to relate this woman to. Danny must think that I was having a break down, sorry. Milly’s brain at work. As I was thinking about Jezebel and people who have been exasperating to be around I realized they weren’t like her. She had no love for anyone except herself and Baal. They love and are loved.

Jezebel was beautiful, sin is beautiful it lures us into it folly then it turns ugly. It taste good to those who indulge in it. That’s why alcoholics keep reaching for the bottle. That Vodka Collins tasted great. The drugs feel good when it takes the pain away and sex is an amazing feeling when done well. The thing is the what those things produce is ugly hangovers, car accidents that kill, a body that falls apart, discarded children, broken lives, and marriages. The product of sin is ugly. Her sin was monumental, when your name is in Revelations for your sin, you’ve sinned beyond repair. I say this because she didn’t want repair That’s not the intention of those who turn against the people in their church. They feel what they say and do is right. Now I do believe that some want to see the destruction of my church because they have said it. But to be evil like Jezebel, no.

Jezebel’s sins against mankind and God left her as an example in Revelations.

Revelations 2:18
These are the words of the Son of God, whose eyes are like blazing fire and whose feet are like burnished bronze. 19 I know your deeds, your love and faith, your service and perseverance, and that you are now doing more than you did at first.

Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophet. By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols. 21 I have given her time to repent of her immorality, but she is unwilling. 22 So I will cast her on a bed of suffering, and I will make those who commit adultery with her suffer intensely, unless they repent of her ways. 23 I will strike her children dead. Then all the churches will know that I am he who searches hearts and minds, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds. 24 Now I say to the rest of you in Thyatira, to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan's so-called deep secrets, 'I will not impose any other burden on you, 25 except to hold on to what you have until I come.'

Her deeds got her killed in a horrible way.

2 Kings 9:31
31 As Jehu entered the gate, she asked, "Have you come in peace, you Zimri, you murderer of your master?"

32 He looked up at the window and called out, "Who is on my side? Who?" Two or three eunuchs looked down at him. 33 "Throw her down!" Jehu said. So they threw her down, and some of her blood spattered the wall and the horses as they trampled her underfoot.
34 Jehu went in and ate and drank. "Take care of that cursed woman," he said, "and bury her, for she was a king's daughter." 35 But when they went out to bury her, they found nothing except her skull, her feet and her hands. 36 They went back and told Jehu, who said, "This is the word of the LORD that he spoke through his servant Elijah the Tishbite: On the plot of ground at Jezreel dogs will devour Jezebel's flesh. 37 Jezebel's body will be like dung on the ground in the plot at Jezreel, so that no one will be able to say, 'This is Jezebel.' "

So in writing this I have learned a lot about how I should look at the good in those around me. God has forgiven us. I have forgiven them.

Praise the Lord!

Of course, I do have a couple I can relate it to, but I'm glad you don't.

Jezebel was beautiful, sin is beautiful it lures us into it folly then it turns ugly.

Amen.

Jezebel's also very, very spiritual sin. She made her spiritual teachings beautiful before they became ugly, too. Remember your quote from Rev:
Now I say to the rest of you in Thyatira, to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan's so-called deep secrets,

Jezebel claimed to teach secrets that were deeper than anything the apostles had. She claimed to be going beyond them.

when your name is in Revelations for your sin, you’ve sinned beyond repair.

LOL

I find the Jezebel in Rev 2 revealing. I assume, btw, that she is a very real, and very different person from the one in Kings. Her name was probably not really Jezebel, but everyone knew whom He was talking about.

Jesus complains that the people were eating meats sacrificed to idols, while Paul tells the people that it's OK as long as they don't really know that it was sacrificed to an idol. I take that to mean that she was doing more than narrowly eating such meat. She was having the people go out and look for meats sacrificed to idols so that they would gain secret spiritual benefit from those gods or some such.

Then I look at her sexual sins, and I believe they are going to go down the same road. She was not just being physically vulgar, but she was trying to perform physical acts for spiritual benefit. She probably taught that through physical connection the deepest things could be shared. Eros as spiritual is an old, old thing, and very common in Asia Minor. I see this as directly tied to the words against letting women teach in 1 & 2 Timothy. I believe those women were being led down a path toward fertility cult, and that this women code-named Jezebel in Rev 2 was possibly even one of the ones Paul was hushing.

Lastly, of course, I have to note that this Jezebel was a leader in the church, and Jesus takes no issue with that.

Codpoke,
You sir as always add so much to these. That’s what I love. I want to hear more. I love to learn and dwell on the word of God.

Thanks,
Cowboy

That's the thing when I took her sins out and tried to put it to word, then looked at those who had offended my church they aren't the same. I can bet that if you honestly did that you too would be standing in the closet thinking “Man God just did it again, now I can let it go”

He took Danny Kaye’s post and my post and put it right in my face.

Hi Milly,
No, I didn't think you were having a breakdown. ;-)

I will be back later to read this and find out all about what you were going through. It's been a very busy week and I haven't been able to do much blogging.

BUT I'LL BE BACK!

I don't understand. God just did what again, and I can let go of what?

I honestly never thought about Jezebel in the light of being beautiful. But Metaphorically speaking, you're right.

I can't add anything to this thread that Codepoke didn't already add. So I won't go on needlessly.

I will add that I know what it is like to put together a blog post and then hit the wrong keyboard key...and the whole thing is GONE!! I feel your pain, there.

I was in my closet hanging stuff up when it hit me.

I don’t think I had the point yet when I wrote it the first two times I needed for God to show me that those I felt were a bit evil weren’t as bad as Jezebel. She was unforgivable. Those that I have felt have sinned against my church body are forgivable and God let me know to let it go.

Danny

Yes, I think she was very beautiful to the men she was able to corrupt. They want to follow so they have the blame also. I like the story as an example of the kinds of women our sons should be protected from.

This story haunted me for a while because of how her body was treated after death. What sin!

Man that is a nice choice of words.

Jezebel did more than just sin though, she came against one of God's most annointed prophets. Her power sent a many who's faith burnt the altars of Baal to the ground and confounded God's enemy's, to hiding in caves afraid for his very life.

Jezebel managed to touch (literally shake) God's annointed and God doesn't take too kindly to that.

Her vain manipulations and blasphemy fated her to be cruisin' for a bruisin'.

God Bless
Doug

Gotcha. It's cool how the truth keep expanding into us. Way to stick with it!
